We recently had a visitor come into our biology class. I thought she was a very interesting because she has 4 kidneys, but only one working one. I learned that when a kidney is replaced the two original kidneys are not taken out but rather left and the replacements are placed in the front and hooked. I also learned that steroids, if taken too long can have a negative effect. She was on steroids in the hospital but wasn't monitored and as an effect of this her hips dissolved so she had to get to hip replacements. Not only that but I also learned about dialysis and how it works, which scared me but at the same time fascinated me. The fact that we are advanced that much in medical technology is really cool to me. It's not only the fact that we know enough to be able to achieve such things as dialysis, but also the fact that so many lives have be saved. I'm really happy she chose to share her story with us and I never will forget her story.
Maybe a different title for this one, it sounds like a sideshow attraction.
